2019- the year in review
I think it's about time I did my year in review post. I had fun looking at all my photos and remembering the good times I had in 2019. I was a slacker as a blogger in 2019 so I will catch you up in this post and a second post later in the week.
January:
I attended a cookie decorating workshop with a friend. Actually, I gave her a ticket to this event for her birthday. We had a great time and lots of laughs.
We had snow in January and I took this pic through my bedroom window. This is my neighbor's barn. The snow and the lights enchanted me. I love this view from my condo.
February
I spent a bitter cold evening at The Old Manse in Concord for their Full Moon Meditation. The day before, I was at The Old Manse for Romance at the Old Manse, a program to learn about the love stories of the residents at this property. After the lecture we learned about and sampled chocolate from Taza Chocolate of Somerville.
I held a Celebration of Winter party at the Hartshorne House in Wakefield. Casey created and manned the cocoa bar.
I made ice lanterns to decorate the outside of the building.
Hot butternut squash apple soup warmed up the evening. I loved the view of the frozen lake from the back of this historic home.
March:
I took a cat sitting job for two adorable kitties. No, I don't think his momma wants him on the counter.
March is still a cold month in New England so I enjoyed snuggling Oscar and Percy.
I enjoyed volunteering at an Irish Celebration at Melrose Memorial Hall. I am on the Board of Directors of the Friends of Melrose Memorial Hall.
The concert was exceptional and very well attended!
April
My sister and I joined friends at the Blossoms at the Beebe gala in Wakefield. The theme was masquerade. Here's my sister in her outfit for the evening.
I joined a social media group in Melrose. We meet once a month and support each other by following each other's accounts. We have a great group of women.
I learned how to create and record a podcast at Stoneham Community TV.
May
I attended the Soul Lantern walk in Woburn. Walkers made or purchased pre-made lanterns to honor a loved one and they walked around Horn Pond at dusk. It was beautiful to see.
A friend had a birthday with a zero and she wanted to go for afternoon tea. So I took her to the Inn at Hastings Park in Lexington for an elegant tea for two.
Isn't this house adorable? It is actually the place of business of a law firm. I had quite a few closings here in May. It was a good month and year businesswise.
Percy was diagnosed with lymphoma. It actually showed up as a mass in his eye. It was aggressive. The diagnosis was shocking to me as Percy had never been sick a day in his life. We started a prednisone regimen as I did not want to put him through chemo. The result would not have given him more time so why subject him to lengthy vet visits?
May is small business month and for the last four years I have done a 30 day challenge. I visit a different small business every day and make a purchase. Then I post on Facebook to give the business exposure. One of the businesses I visited was Ceramica in Stoneham. I painted an owl bowl and picked up the finished product the next week. Let's say my bowl needed work but I had fun.
I visited Perrella Jeweler's in Melrose. This claddagh bracelet went home with me. I wear it almost every day.
And I really enjoyed visiting Ryer's Country Store for lunch. Here's the owner Mark posing on the porch of the store. The store is filled with antiques and memorabilia. So much to look at and the food is great!
June
June is my birth month so I celebrated with friends and family in Rockport, my go to destination. The weather was perfect!
My friend Debbi and I watered goats at Spot Pond. We signed up to be volunteers and we spent time with the goats twice. We both want to do it again this year.
Percy passed away the day after my birthday. His little body could fight no longer. It was only 4 weeks since he was diagnosed. His absence is felt to this day.
I focused on Oscar after giving Percy all my attention. Oscar was grieving too. He is such a good boy.
My sister and I joined in the 375th anniversary celebration for the Town of Reading. The town had activities all month.
