2018 year in review
Two weeks into 2019 and I am just getting around to my 2018 year in review post. I guess I should have made a resolution about procrastinating. Anyway in January, we had a blizzard and of course I went outside to take photos.
I went to Diane and Michael's after the holidays party. You may remember that Diane and Michael were my cat Oscar's foster parents.
I took this photo of the lights and this beautiful church in downtown Wakefield. This is my view when I leave my job at the bank each night. Little did I know that in October this iconic church would be struck by lightning with damage so severe it had to be demolished.
I spent many a Winter evening at Caffe Nero in Reading and in 2018 I met one of my blog readers here.
Winter sure is pretty in Wakefield, Massachusetts. I really do not mind snow and cold.
But it is also fun to snuggle with kitties especially when the temperatures drop.
In March, my sister and I visited a favorite breakfast spot, Sugar Magnolia's. It's in Gloucester if you ever want to check it out.
My sister's art class decided to portray characters in Norman Rockwell's paintings. They always have a good time.
Ha! Look at my sister as the girl outside the principal's office. I do not remember the actual name of the painting.
I took a one day workshop on flat lay photography. This was a practice shot.
I love photographing re-enactments. This one was in Lexington, Massachusetts in April.
I attended a 60's themed event. Everyone did a great job choosing their outfits.
In May, I attended a royal wedding tea and I also wore a fascinator.
I had 4 cat sitting jobs. Bing and Barley are my upstairs neighbor's cats. Such good boys!
In May and June, I loved watching my garden grow. My little caterpillar is made from rakes.
I visited a tulip farm in Rhode Island.
And had an outdoor tea in Providence on that same day.
I saw John Sebastian in Rockport, Massachusetts.
And I planned my birthday celebration. Hunting for beach glass was on my list of activities.
And playing skeeball.
I played with kittens at a local shelter and thought about adopting this little one. But, I came to my senses.
I enjoyed patio time at my condo.
We celebrated my sister's birthday in August and continued the tradition of hunting for beach glass. This time we went to a beach in Rockport, Massachusetts.
In August, my sister and I visited our friends at their cottage across from Nubble Light in York, Maine.
In September, I attended Melrose's first annual Porchfest. This group is called Linen and Lace.
In October, I bought a new car, a Toyota Rav 4. My salesperson is named Prince and yes the car is purple or Black Currant Metallic to be exact.
I attended a silent movie screening of Phantom of the Opera with this dapper duo. The vintage organ behind them was restored and an organist played tunes and sound effects for the movie.
I was excited to cat sit Leo and Forest twice this year. This is Forest and he is moving with his brother and Mommy to South Carolina. So sadly, I won't see them again.
Percy was featured in Fifi O'Neill's book Rescue Me. You can buy the book on Amazon, the proceeds benefit animal shelters across the country.
I attended a book signing with author and television personality Hank Phillipi Ryan. She gave such an interesting talk at a local bookstore.
We celebrated Thanksgiving together.
My sister and I saw Michelle Obama speak at the Boston Garden.
I met my friend Wendy in Falmouth for a book signing with Susan Branch. You can call us Susan Branch groupies, we won't mind.
I went to a Christmas Tea at the Hartshorne House in Wakefield.
I took a Christmas portrait after we gathered for Christmas dinner at Elli and Debbi's house.
Also in December, we took a day trip to York, Maine for my friend Don's birthday. This lobster trap tree was outside Stonewall Kitchen.
My sister and I met friends at the Inn at Hastings Park for a Winter Wonderland Tea.
It was a full year. Good times with friends and family. Wishing everyone a happy and healthy 2019!
